First Meeting

I've always been a fan of travelling. This is one of the main reasons why I joined CouchSurfing. I have used this site a few times since I joined last July. When I went to Singapore, I stayed for 6 nights with a very kind Indian host named Paul. My gratitude is never ending because me and my friend Rhez saved a lot of money on our trip.

A few days ago, there is a Chinese traveler named Cherry who will be visiting Cebu on the 3rd til the 7th. Fortunately, she will be visiting on a weekend plus the 6th is a holiday. So, I made arrangements with her to make an out of town trip, somewhere South. She asked if there are others coming too because it will be more fun and convenient in terms of cost sharing. So I posted on the local forum for other joiners. Luckily, there were 2 others that joined, Yuta and Toni.

All four of us stayed at our German host named Claudia in Harry's Stichery - such a beautiful neighborhood. After a short rest and meet-and-greet, the original plan was to go to OsmeƱa Peak in the afternoon but the weather did not permit. It was a rainy afternoon and going up the peak would be tricky and foggy. So as per Toni's suggestion, we will be going to Tumalog Falls instead. However, me, Cherry and Yuta were all hungry so we decided to look for food first before we head to the falls. Toni suggested a restaurant near the Whaleshark Divepoint.

We went to Sunrise Grill - good location and ambiance. There was only four of us in the restaurant. After we ordered, we spent a few minutes exchanging travel stories. Then suddenly, everyone kept quiet and heard a small argument on the next table. I didn't notice someone else came in to the restaurant. I looked at the guy. He is SO GORGEOUS that I told myself, "Why can't be my boyfriend be like that?" I laughed at myself. "I will never have a chance with a guy like that." , I added.

And then this guy took notice of us. Then he asked us about our nationalities. We asked him to guess. He guessed right all others except mine. He thought I was Thai or Korean. Then finally on the third guess, he got it right. I can tell he is a friendly person. And his smile, my god his smile is the sweetest thing I ever saw. I was attracted to him. And it sucks to know that I was in a relationship that time. Even if not, he can only be in my dreams. A gorgeous guy like that can never be mine.

So anyways, we continued conversing about the whalesharks. We mentioned about our plans for tomorrow and his too. And then that was it. We didn't even exchange names whatsoever. We finished our food and headed to Tumalog Falls. He was left there, alone enjoying his beer.

Later that night, I still can't shake the feeling about him. I didn't even know his name. Of course I felt guilty being attracted to another man since I was in a relationship. But I figured, it was a harmless indulgence. It's not like we will ever meet again.
